The Nigeria Trade office in Taiwan was established in November 1992, consequent to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Governments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of China, Taiwan. The Memorandum provided for the reciprocal establishment of Trade Offices for the purpose of promoting trade, investment and other economic relations between the two countries. The Nigeria Trade office in Taiwan commenced operations in Taipei in November 1992, two years after the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU).

He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a B. Sc. (Hon) Economics from University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State and at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria in 2007 and 1987 respectively. He obtained WTO Advanced Diploma and Diploma in Trade Policy in 2013 and 2004 respectively at WTO, Geneva, Switzerland. He is a Fellow and Certified Management Consultants (CMC) of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria and a Certified Management Specialist (CMS) of the London Graduate School. He started his career with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Nigeria in 1991.
The Honourable Commissioner has attended several professional courses/workshops/seminars both at National, Regional, Continental and International as well as at global levels as Trade Expert/Negotiator, and also coordinated Nigerian participation at national, international and global exhibitions and expositions. He has held strategic positions in the past noted among which is the Director of Nigeria Pavilions at the International Exposition Zaragoza 2008, Zaragoza, Spain and Universal Expo 2010 Shanghai, China 2010.
Mr. Ahmed is the first substantive Director of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be appointed into the position of Trade Commissioner of Nigeria Trade Office in Taiwan in 2019 for strengthening bilateral trade, investment and other relations between Nigeria and Taiwan. The Office provides relevant information on business, tourism, humanitarian, education, etc. to Taiwanese who are interested in knowing more about Nigeria which is abundantly endowed with all kinds of resources. Alongside Government’s sustained efforts to create a robust business environment, make Nigeria a preferred investment and tourism destination in Africa.
