About Nigeria Trade Office in Taipei

The Nigeria Trade office in Taipei was established in November 1992, consequent to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Governments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Taipei. The Memorandum provided for the reciprocal establishment of Trade Offices for the purpose of promoting trade, investment and other economic relations between the two. The Nigeria Trade office in Taiwan commenced operations in Taipei in November 1992, two years after the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The Trade Office has the following functions:

  1. Liaising with government functionaries in Taiwan including top government officials to facilitate trade and investment between Nigeria and Taiwan;
  2. assist Nigerian and Taiwanese businessmen to develop and exploit mutual trade and investment opportunities;
  3. provide information on exportable non-oil commodities from Nigeria;
  4. respond to business enquiries on Nigeria, provide Status Reports on Nigerian companies and process trade complaints, as a means to improve and sustain the interest of Taiwanese investors in the Nigerian economy;
  5. provide business linkages to the organized private sector in Nigeria e.g. Chambers of Commerce, Manufacturers Association, etc.;
  6. undertake market surveys for the guidance of Nigerian exporters and Nigerian companies interested in doing business with Taiwan;
  7. provide counselling and information on trade and investment regulations, export requirements and market situations;
  8. provide consular services in furtherance of trade relations between Nigeria and Taiwan;
  9. promote arts, culture and tourism.
